E.R. Fire Institute

Did you know some of our youth are involved in the discipleship program FIRE Institute? What is it, you ask? Fire Institute is an eight week program created by Rich Wilkerson for students to have a greater commitment to Christ. Fire institute takes students through in-depth bible study. They are memorizing 8 sections of scripture, notice I said sections and not verses. Along with reading the New Testament they are reading two “status quo” challenging books and preparing reports on them. The students have been challenged to fast weekly, and sacrifice things from their everyday life that keep them from being consumed by Gods fire. This weekend we will be doing a service project at the Martin Luther King Center, Rock Island in conjuntion with “Rock the River” tour.
What have you been doing to grow your relationship with Christ? Discipleship is not just for the young people. Do you have a life consumed by God’s fire or consumed by all the challenges and pressures of your everyday life. Romans 12:2 (NLT) says, ” Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect”.
